The Edge AI and Vision Product of the Year Awards celebrate the innovation and achievement of the industry’s leading companies that are enabling and developing products incorporating edge AI and computer vision technologies. Evaluated and selected by a panel of independent industry experts, winning an Edge AI and Vision Product of the Year Award provides validation of your leadership and innovation.
This new award program represents a broadening of the scope of our previous annual Vision Product of the Year Awards program. The awards categories will now encompass products employing both vision and other forms of edge AI. Also, we’re adding a new category called: Edge AI End Product. This is intended to recognize innovation in systems and applications for products delivered directly to the consumer, enterprise, or government markets. Among all of the award categories, this end product category is the only one that is open to both Member companies and non-Member companies of the Alliance. Alliance Member companies that supply enabling technologies are encouraged to invite their customers to submit their systems or applications for the Best Edge AI End Product competition.

Award Categories Open to Alliance Members
Only Alliance Member companies can submit entries for these five categories. Member companies may also submit an entry for the Edge AI End Product category which is open for all Member and non-Member companies.
Entries for multiple products can be submitted for one or more of these Award categories:
This hardware technology category includes any chip, integrated component assembly (SoC, SoM, etc.), or licensable IP that is used to implement and/or accelerate edge AI and vision-based systems. Examples include CPU, GPU, DSP, FPGA, VPU/ASSP, AI accelerators, licensable cores, etc.
Edge AI Software and Algorithms
This category includes any software or firmware programs and/or algorithms used to implement and/or accelerate edge AI and vision-based systems. Examples include optimized versions of computer vision software libraries and innovative algorithms for implementing visual intelligence.
The camera has become an intelligent subsystem for a vision system, leading to the emergence of “smart cameras” with integrated visual intelligence functionality. Examples of products in this category include image sensors, time-of-flight sensors and depth sensors, whether they are stand-alone, integrated with optics, and/or integrated with a processor.
Developer tools may include the software, services, and hardware that developers use to create, debug, maintain, or otherwise support edge AI and vision-based systems. A software development kit (SDK) typically contains a set of software development tools that allow the creation of applications for edge AI and vision-based systems. A hardware development kit (HDK) is designed for developers of hardware modules and systems and provides information to build custom hardware.
Edge computing and vision technologies are rapidly emerging in the automotive market and, fused with other sensor technologies, is increasing the safety and enhancing the driving experience. With new advances in deep learning techniques, edge AI and vision systems are becoming more sophisticated in enabling vehicles to “see” their surroundings, thereby improving advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technology.
These systems use cameras and computer vision techniques to understand the vehicle’s surroundings. This category includes edge AI and vision hardware and/or software technologies developed specifically to improve the driving experience, whether by enhancing safety, providing navigational aid, improving the passenger experience, or providing/enabling autonomous driving functionality.
Award Category Open to All Companies
This is a new award category for 2021 and is open to both Member and non-Member companies. Members are encouraged to invite their customers to submit an entry for this category. There is no submission fee.
This category includes products, services and applications incorporating edge AI and vision technologies that are delivered directly to the consumer, enterprise, or government markets. Examples include smart hubs for consumers incorporating wake word speech recognition; remote health monitoring systems for the healthcare industry using visual perception and AI technologies; and autonomous vehicles, mobile robots and drones for use in industrial logistics and delivery incorporating low-cost cameras and machine learning to categorize and recognize objects for autonomous operation.

JUDGING CRITERIA
The Edge AI and Vision Product of the Year Award winners are selected by an independent panel of judges, and based on the following criteria:
Innovation. Describe your product highlighting your innovation and unique features.
Differentiation. How does your product compare to the closest competitor?
Customer Impact. How does your product create new value for your customers? What does your product enable your customers to do that they could not do previously?
Market Impact. How has your product been received in the market? Provide links to press coverage, market research reports, customer usage, interviews, etc.

For the purposes of these rules, we will use the term “We” (or “Us”) to mean the Edge AI and Vision Alliance and the term “You” (or “Your”) to mean your company of the Edge AI and Vision Alliance.
You agree to abide by the following:
To be eligible, your new product, or update to your existing product with the innovation described in your entry, must have become available for sale between January 1, 2021 and March 1, 2022.
You may submit entries for multiple products and for multiple categories.
Your entry is complete when you have filled out all required sections of the online entry form and paid the entry fees. We cannot issue refunds for entries that are withdrawn after submission.
If you are selected as a winner, you will grant us permission, without compensation, to use your company name, logo and product image in the promotion of this awards program. Only winning entries are promoted.If you are selected as a winner, to help you promote your Award, we will give you permission, without compensation, to use the Edge AI and Vision Product of the Year Award logo on your marketing materials and online for the specific product or service entry.
We reserve the right to modify all conditions regarding this Contest without claim for damage or recourse of any kind. Also, we have the right to rescind any awards granted to entrants that have misrepresented their product or entry in this competition.
In order to assist you with your entry, we may request additional information or recommend the entry be moved to a different category.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an advantage to submitting our entry prior to the deadline?
Yes. Getting your entry submitted weeks or months before the deadline provides more time for us to review your entry, provide you with feedback and for you to incorporate any updates—all resulting in a higher quality entry.
Can we submit multiple entries?
Yes. Obviously, the chances of winning an award increase if you submit entries for multiple categories or products. Also, if you decide to submit the same product for multiple categories, please be sure that each entry is unique and highly focused on the features, benefits and value relevant to the specific category.
Can we submit confidential information on our entry?
Please do not submit confidential information.
How can we improve the quality of our entry?
The key to a winning entry will be the quality of the application where your responses use specific and quantitative language. For best results, avoid using text from your marketing collateral.
First, use the Entry worksheet to draft your answers. The worksheet allows you to share and collaborate with your co-workers prior to submitting your entry and helps ensure all responses fit within specified word counts. You can find the link to download the Entry worksheet when you click on “Enter Now.”
Entries will be judged on four criteria: innovation, differentiation, customer impact, and market impact. There are a total of six questions and each question is clearly marked with the associated criterion. Your response to these questions will be used by the judges to score your entry for the indicated criterion.
Each of your six responses should be concise and very specific on addressing the key points for each criterion.
We do not have a public testimonial from our customer. What should we do?
The judges score each entry based on the six questions in the worksheet. To obtain a higher score and increase your probability of winning, it is important to answer all six questions – including Question #5: Customer Impact (Testimonials). If there are no existing published testimonials, please do your best to provide a generic testimonial. As a reminder, please do not submit confidential information. Here is an example of a generic customer testimonial: “Here is a testimonial from our customer whose company is a leading provider of [fill in the blank] and the testimonial is from the vice president of engineering. This customer stated [statement the customer made in support of your product].” While a generic testimonial is not as strong as a public testimonial, it does add value to your entry.
